Chapter 18 Hu people language

"Since the Great Food Kingdom has two enemies worthy of attention in the east, Qinnaste and Tubo, it cannot seriously weaken Qinnaste. Qinnaste is far away from Central Asia. If the attack on them is too strong, the Tubo people will benefit the most. We cannot do such a thing." Salih said.

"What you said makes sense. But this problem is easy to solve: after eliminating the Qinnastan army in Central Asia, then hit the Tubo people hard." Hou Meide said confidently, not taking the Tang Dynasty and Tubo seriously at all.

"No." Saleh said with a serious expression: "No."

"Why? Are you afraid of defeating the war?" Houmede was stunned for a moment when he heard Saleh's words, and then asked fiercely.

"When have you seen me scared over the years?" Saleh asked back.

"Since you are not afraid, why don't you say it's not?" Hou Meide asked again, but his momentum was much lower.

"Of course it's for us." Salih said: "Said, the army in the Governor General of Khorasan is indeed very powerful, but the Qinnasteans and the Tubos are not weak either. Although they can definitely defeat them, our army will also suffer losses. We must avoid losses as much as possible."

"You mean?" Saleh emphasized the word "we". Although Houmede was not sensitive or concerned about things outside of war, he also noticed that there was something in his words.

"The enemies you just mentioned are all great enemies of the Great Food Kingdom, but not the Great Food Kingdom. Khorasan's biggest enemy is in Kufa." Saleh said: "The Great Food Kingdom is established by the great food kingdoms and the force of our Khorasans. Among them, the priests are of course important, but more importantly, the force. Without the force of our Khorasans, it is impossible to defeat Melwang II and establish a new country."

"But after Abu Abbas became the Caliph, he was unwilling to continue to be controlled by the Khorasans by force and wanted to weaken us. If Khorasan's army suffered losses or even lost a war, it would give him an excuse to weaken us."

"Even if we keep winning battles, there is a saying among the Qinnasteans, 'After a cunning rabbit dies, dogs will be eaten, birds that can fly will be killed, and bows and arrows will be hidden'. If Qinnaste and Tubo people are driven out of Central Asia, what excuses do we have to continue to maintain a strong army in Khorasan instead of being transferred to the West to deal with other enemies? So we cannot kill all the Qinnasteans and Tubo people."

The relationship between Abu Abbas and Abu Biebosilin, or the relationship with the Khorasan Legion, is very delicate. At the end of the Umayyad Dynasty, the Hashemites took the opportunity to rise. The Imam of the Hashemites at that time was called Ibrahim Abbas, the elder brother of Abu Abbas and Jerfar Abbas. Abu Biebosilin was his general. But Ibrahim was only responsible for political and religious matters, and the Hashemite army was almost formed by Abu Biebosilin.

If Ibrahim had been alive, there would be no big problem. As a legitimate second-generation Hashemite imam, he could suppress the military; but on the eve of his victory, Ibrahim was captured by the Umayyad dynasty and died in prison soon.

Although after a series of political struggles, Abu Abbas became the supreme leader and later became the Caliph, he did not have the prestige of Ibrahim and was unable to instruct the Khorasan Legion. Abu Biebosilin and others also had the meaning of "striking the Lord with great achievements". Therefore, Abu Abbas wanted to weaken the power of Abu Biebosilin and weaken the Khorasan Legion; Abu Biebosilin and others knew this well, but they were unwilling to rebel. This led to the current subtle relationship.

"You, this," Houmede was at a loss when he heard Saleh's words, and after a while he calmed down; he was about to say something, and suddenly looked around again, and after confirming that there was no one else in the room except them, he asked, "Is this the Governor's idea?"

"No, this is my thought." Saleh sighed and said, "It would be great if this was the governor's idea."

"Long before entering the Mesopotamian Basin, I persuaded the Governor not to support Abu Abbas as a Caliph, or to completely deprive the Caliph of its power, or even join forces with Abu Sarama; but the Governor did not listen to me and insisted on supporting Abu Abbas."

"When Abu Abbas first succeeded to the throne, I also had the hope that he would be a noble person. But he soon revealed his true face and wanted to get rid of the heroes who made great contributions in the fight against Melvin II. The first goal was Abu Salama. After Abu Abbas killed Abu Salama, he would definitely attack the Governor, our Governor General, and those of us who had a strong army in their hands!"

"What should we do?" Hou Meide immediately asked. As for whether to pursue Tang Jun, he had already thrown the blame behind him.

"We have no choice now." Saleh breathed and said a little decadently: "Can the Caliph be abolished? Then the sacredness of the Caliph will disappear and the country will fall into division. All we can do now is self-protection."

"Is there really no way?" Hou Meide asked again.

"How," Saleh thought about it again and said, "If you insist on saying that there is still some, it is to assassinate Abu Abbas and establish another Abbas family as a caliph, but deprive the caliph of its power. It is better to establish a child, as it would be more legitimate to deprive the caliph of its power."

"But it is too difficult to assassinate Abu Abbas. He is a caliph after all, and the capital is not in Khorasan; and the governor cannot make up this determination."

"You are the same as you didn't say it." Houmeide said. Although he could not notice the subtle relationship between Kufa and Khorasan as Saleh, he knew his old boss's indecisive personality very well: such a risky strategy would not be determined to adopt it without being forced into a desperate situation.

"It's better than you can't imagine anything." Saleh responded angrily.

Houmeid gave him a blank look again, lowered his head and thought, as if he was thinking of a solution; but he couldn't think of a good solution, so he could only sigh. He suddenly remembered the war that had just ended and asked, "I almost forgot that although I didn't pursue the Qinnasteans, there were still many things to do for the aftermath to do, and someone had to return to Samarkand to report the detailed process of the battle to the Governor. Are you staying here for the aftermath, or me?"

"You stay in Talas. Your eloquence is not as good as mine. I am afraid the governor will not understand when he hears your report. I will report to the governor. Moreover, I am commanding this battle, so I know the details more." Saleh also put his thoughts back to this battle, thinking about it and said.

"You will do the job of rewarding merit again, keep me wipe my butt." Houmeide muttered. But he didn't really care. Although they were less than forty years old this year, they have been working together for twenty years and are very familiar with each other. They know that Saleh did not choose to report back to seize merit.

"Then you go to set out tomorrow. Although this battle is not large in scale, it is a war with the Eastern power Qinnastein after all. The governor also attaches great importance to it, so it is better to report it as soon as possible."

Houmede continued: "I stay in Talas, reward the soldiers who have made meritorious service, punish the timid soldiers, and reward the monarch of Tashkent (Shiguo)."

Speaking of this, he hesitated for a moment. "Do you want to continue to win over the Turks, Tocharians and Sakkas under the control of the Qinnasteans?" His idea was to drive the Tang Kingdom away from Central Asia, so he believed that he should actively win over the non-Tang tribes under the control of the Tang Kingdom; but now he knew that he could not drive the Tang Kingdom away, and whether to continue to win over should be carefully considered. After all, win over would also cost money.

"I'll go to ask the Governor for instructions. But the Governor will probably say that you will continue to win over, so you can win over first." Saleh thought for a while and said.

After pausing, he said: "There are not only four ethnic groups in Central Asia: Qinnasteans, Turks, Tocharians, and Sakkas. Don't mess with them."

"I care about how many ethnic groups he has! No matter what kind of Garlu, Uighur, Tuqishi, as long as he speaks Turkic, they are Turkic; Kucha, Yanqi, Loulan, Cheshi, Gumo, as long as he speaks Tocharis, they are Tocharis people; what kind of Sergians, Sogdians, and Zhejie, they are Sakka people; and what kind of Qin's people are Qin's people."

Hou Meide said disdainfully. The Turks had long been defeated and had no strength. Other ethnic groups were even weaker. He would not have much effort for the weak ethnic groups and distinguished carefully.

"You." Facing his attitude, Saleh had no choice but to sigh.

After they discussed for a while, Hou Meide noticed that the candles lit on the table were almost burning out, so he patted his head and said, "Look at me, it's already very late. What we are discussing is not a matter of burning eyebrows. There is no need to discuss it late at night. I'll go back to sleep first, you can sleep too. Let's talk about the rest tomorrow."

"I've wanted to sleep for a long time. You pulled me and chased me into my bedroom. After you left, I took off my clothes and could go to bed immediately." Saleh said.

Houmede responded with a smile and cursed, and stood up and left. Saleh asked his servant to come in and serve him to take off his clothes and sleep.
