New Year's Day: White coat is not armor, say no to violent injuries to doctors

2019

A doctor fell to her job. Her name is Yang Wen, and she is the deputy chief physician of Beijing Civil Aviation General Hospital.

At six o'clock that day, a patient's family came behind Dr. Yang. She chatted with the doctor the previous second, but the next second, she suddenly took out a sharp knife and slashed her neck fiercely. In just two minutes, Dr. Yang's neck was seriously damaged, and before she could react, she fell into a pool of blood.

The murderer has been arrested as a suspect of intentional homicide according to law. Unfortunately, Dr. Yang eventually died in the early morning of the 25th due to his serious injury and was ineffective after rescue efforts.

Today is New Year's Day, the first day of 2020, but Dr. Yang was unable to survive this day, which made me very heartbroken.

Why treat a doctor so cruelly? Is it because a doctor cannot cure all diseases? Is it because a doctor cannot bring people back to life? Or is it because a doctor cannot let death never come? But in fact...

Doctors are not omnipotent gods!

A doctor summarized his career in his epitaph: occasionally healing, often helping, always comforting.

Birth, old age, sickness and death are inevitable in life, and it is disease that takes away life. Medical personnel use their own knowledge, technology, and care to gain more time for patients to live from the claws of disease.

This is a war of uncertainty in winning or losing. All medical staff and patients are comrades who are moving forward together. Our common enemy is disease.

There have been more than once violent medical injuries, and I am very sad that Chinese medical staff have been in high-risk working environments for a long time and their lives have no guarantee. I don’t want to see such tragedies happen one after another - just as we don’t want the same thing to happen in the group of drivers, teachers, or lawyers.

This article alone will give a little bit of a weak voice to Chinese medical workers. I also hope that everyone can understand the doctor more when seeking medical treatment. Even if there are disputes, they should be resolved in a legal way, not in extreme ways.
