Chapter 9 Ghost talk under the temple
At night, I don’t know if it was my illusion or something. There was always a sound in my ears, like the sound of fingernails scratching the wooden board, or like someone whispering. In short, there was an indescribable sound.
From the gap in the coffin board, I could see the sky outside, but it was pitch black outside and could not hear anything.
During the whole night, all I had was the sound of my ears, and in addition to that, the sound of insects in the wild.
The next morning, the sun shone directly on me through the gaps in the coffin board, and the place I was exposed was soon red, just like I was burned by a soldering iron.
Just as I was thinking about this, the old Taoist pushed open the coffin board, and the dazzling sunlight suddenly shone in. For a moment, I felt like I was about to be blinded by the sun.
But soon, a black umbrella blocked above my head.
Slowly I opened my eyes and the old Taoist looked at me with a black umbrella.
"I'll be peaceful last night!" asked the old Taoist, "Have you heard any sound?"
I was a little confused when I heard this. Perhaps because I saw my doubts, the old Taoist gave me the umbrella in his hand.
"You can't get in contact with the sun now, so it's better to have an umbrella. You can come out and take a look during the day."
After saying that, I sat up from the coffin, but after I came out, I saw another scene. Originally, the seven coffins were all well-off, but I didn't expect that the three coffins have fallen apart now, and it seemed that they were destroyed with great force. However, I didn't hear any sound last night.
"What's going on?"
"A female ghost came in the second half of last night. Fortunately, these three coffins stopped them until dawn. I'm afraid it would be a fierce battle tonight. When the sun sets, it's probably going to take action."
After the old Taoist said that, he shook his head slightly.
I held the rooster in one hand and the umbrella in the other. Just as I was about to speak, the old Taoist told me a few words and then left.
I sat on the stone pier in the dilapidated temple and looked at the coffins outside, but at this moment, a little boy's head suddenly popped out, and when I saw this little boy, I was also shocked.
The little boy looked at me and then took his head back. When I thought the little boy had left, the little boy stretched out his head again and stared at me with his eyes tightly.
I looked at the little boy. Just as I was about to speak, the little boy spoke first.
"Do you live nearby?"
When I heard the little boy say this, I shook my head.
"Why are you alone, and your family?" I asked.
Because I could see that the surroundings were full of wilderness, it was impossible for the little boy to appear here alone, unless he came up the mountain with his parents.
Hearing my inquiry, the little boy shook his head, and then stood directly at the door of the temple, while he was holding an oil paper umbrella in his hand.
"My family doesn't live with me. They are at the foot of the mountain and I am on the mountain. The noise here last night was too loud and I was alone, so I didn't dare to go on the road. I waited until the morning when I saw the Taoist priest leave."
I was stunned when I heard the little boy say this.
Was it very much last night?
But I didn't hear any sound!
"What happened last night? I saw from a distance that a sister in red was here, as if she wanted something for the old Taoist priest. Brother, you should know what happened here!"
After the little boy finished speaking, I was stunned. I lay in the coffin last night and heard no sound.
The little boy came in and stopped when I was still ten steps away, then stared at the rooster in my hand, his eyes full of hatred.
"Little brother, can you tell me that you really heard the sound last night!"
Hearing my inquiry, the little boy nodded solemnly, and the next moment, the little boy spoke again; "Brother, you are like me, this big rooster is the most yang thing, you will die if you hold it."
When I heard the little boy finish speaking, I was about to speak, the little boy saw through the outside of the temple and then directly opened the umbrella in his hand.
"No, the old Taoist priest is back, I'll leave first."
After the little boy finished speaking, he rushed out. Because the speed was too fast, one of his arms was exposed outside. Then I heard a gushing sound, the little boy screamed in pain, and then disappeared.
A few minutes later, the old Taoist priest came back and took a lot of things in his hand, including talismans, cinnabar, and many red ropes tied with copper coins.
Seeing the old Taoist priest busy there, I just looked at him. As for the little boy just now, I didn't tell him.
