7. Apprenticeship qualifications

In the next two months, the north was completely covered with ice and snow, and it was difficult to see a pedestrian in the already sparsely populated wilderness.

Adam's hunting career was completely stopped half a month ago. The wild beasts were too rare and often only had a harvest every few days. This was because of the pervasive mental power that some small creatures were taken out from the underground cave. The energy provided by these small groups could not even keep up with the consumption.

Adam became a domineering manor cafeteria. All the food provided by the fat chef and the fat aunt were occupied by Adam alone. After the rest of the servants complained several times and found that it was useless, they had to go to other places to have a bite of food.

Earl Johnson had never looked for him once, and had never even given a word, as if he had completely forgotten him. It was the Count's two sons who had won him one after another. The stupid Marshall held his own as the Earl's first heir and ordered Adam to be loyal to him in an alms tone. The price he wanted to pay was only the complete knight's breathing method. The cunning Dennis was much smarter than his brother. He not only provided Adam with complete breathing method, but also promised to provide all the resources needed for Adam to practice, including a monthly ointment and the position of future knight chief, as well as a low-level title.

Adam rejected them one by one. Since he learned of the existence of the mage, Adam has no interest in these things. With two months of continuous and efficient training, Adam has become a knight, and the subsequent breathing method has been deduced. Adam thus further confirmed that the knight is a inferior profession, because in his deduction, the future has been cut off.

It was unknown whether it was because of the Count's silence or the support behind Ophelia that although Adam refused to recruit, he encountered no trouble. Although Marshall and Dennis were angry, they did not foolishly attack Adam, which indirectly saved their lives.

On an evening one day, in the heavy snow that never stopped in winter in the north, Adam met Ophelia again. Unlike the noble and indifferent before, Ophelia seemed very happy today, and even said to Adam in a thrilling tone: "The master from Moldo Mage Academy has arrived."

Adam let out a heavy breath, and his breath turned the flying snow into a tornado. The scarlet blood fluctuated in a flash. In the cold weather, Adam was only wearing a single dress, and the temperature seemed to have no effect on him.

Ophelia's eyes flashed with her. It was only two months. Her former playmate was so strong. Her talent was really terrible.

"Pack up your things, you will go to Hanfeng City with me tonight. The mage will start the qualification test tomorrow morning." Ophelia ordered.

Qualification test? Can this kind of profession be assessed through open examinations?

Feeling Adam's doubts, Ophelia explained: "It seems that for some reason, the mage, who was originally scheduled to come two months ago, has postponed its trip and changed the original plan to a small-scale test selection. So in order to avoid wasting time, you and I will be tested by the mage in advance after dinner." In fact, only Ophelia can test in advance, but there is no need to mention this small matter specifically.

Adam nodded, then signaled that he had nothing to clean up, and Ophelia did not bring any followers. One of them rode on the horse and the other ran on the ground and rushed towards Hanfeng City.

Hanfeng City did not bring any new senses to Adam. With the low productivity of ordinary people in this world, the cities they built were not as good as the earth.

After arriving at the lord's mansion, Adam was arranged to go to another place to rest, and the free servant prepared dinner for him, while Ophelia went to the main hall to attend the dinner.

Two hours later, Adam was notified to go to the main hall. A man who could not tell the age was sitting at the upper seat. He was wearing tight clothing unique to the nobles and was talking to the count. Ophelia stood underneath with a nervous face. After seeing Adam, he signaled him to stand beside him.

Adam could feel the strong fluctuations of blood and energy on Earl Johnson, which was the power to reach the end of the Knight profession, but he could not feel any fluctuations in the man. This mage looked like an ordinary person.

"Dear Master Black, I would like to recommend these two people, my little daughter, Ophelia Johnson."

Mage Black nodded to Earl Johnson, then looked at Adam and Ophelia without seeing any movement. His powerful and violent mental power filled the entire hall.

"A huge energy invasion was detected, extremely dangerous, and autonomous defense began." Adam's mental power responded instantly and spread on the surface of his body to deal with the invasion. However, Adam's mental power was defeated after only one percent of his second.

"Defense failed, formulate a response plan...no plan."

The logical thinking is crazy alert, but there is no way to do anything about the situation in front of you. Fortunately, Master Black did not want to kill two people. His mental power was relieved and he said with a smile: "There is excellent mental talent." Then he turned to Adam: "Especially, it is hard to imagine that an ordinary person has such huge mental power, which will be of great help to your apprenticeship."

Seeing Ophelia still had fear on his face, Master Blake explained: "Don't be afraid, oh, this is not an ordinary mage qualification test, but I heard from the Earl that you have extraordinary talents, so I just tried it."

Ophelia recovered and gasped violently several times. In just a short time, her body had been penetrated by sweat, and her blonde hair was wet against her back. She didn't expect that Black, who looked ordinary at the dinner party, would be so powerful.

Mage Black continued: "There are two important conditions to become a mage apprentice. The first is extraordinary mental power, and you are qualified. Second..." Mage Black stretched out his finger and gently sketched it in front of him, and a dazzling rune was suspended in the air. "The basis of learning spells is knowledge, and the basis of applying spells is runes. This is the simplest mental solidification rune, use your mental power to depict it, and then leave it in your soul."

The structure of the rune is not complicated, but it is not easy to copy. The main difficulty for Adam lies in the amount of mental power required to copy it, while for Ophelia, the most rare thing is how to keep it in the soul.

Adam stared at the spiral mental solidified runes in the air. His super memory and calculation power made him remember the structure of the runes at a glance. Adam's entire threads copied hundreds of times at the same time, and his mental power spread and ripples on his body surface. These ripples were formed by the fact that the amount of mental power condensed runes was too large and then it was formed.

Master Black looked at Adam. Even though he had become a formal mage and was almost out of population relationship with ordinary humans, he still praised Adam's talent. This situation was obviously caused by the mismatch between the initial solidified runes and Adam's mental power, but he would not kindly give Adam's higher runes. This is a very important knowledge for the mage, and knowledge represents value.

"If I had such a talent, I would probably have been wasting my entire eighty years in the apprenticeship stage."

An hour later, Ophelia successfully copied the rune and left it in her soul. At the moment of success, she felt a small gap in her mental power. Then a new mental power was generated to fill the gap. Ophelia showed a dazzling smile, looked up at Master Black, and said, "Master, I succeeded."

Mage Black is in a good mood. Every talented apprentice will change the embarrassing situation of Moldo Mage Academy to a certain extent. He said to Ophelia: "You have a good talent. If you are smart enough and have not taken the wrong path, you will have a high chance of becoming a member of the Mage."

Earl Johnson also breathed a sigh of relief. This was undoubtedly good news. The future wizard Johnson would spread the news.

"Dear Mage Black, then, he..." Earl Johnson wanted better news, that is, Adam did not have the qualifications of a mage.

Master Black understood what the count meant, shook his head and said, "He has better talent. If he is at ease, he will succeed."

Adam is indeed about to succeed. Due to his huge mental power, copying this simple rune requires more effort. This is a very easy-to-understand truth, just like you cannot use a sledgehammer to carve, so he needs to constantly reduce his mental power output. Thanks to his powerful calculation power, Adam found this value within two hours and successfully copied it and left it in his soul.

Unlike Ophelia, he did not feel the obvious gap in mental power. The condensation of a low-level rune was only an optional improvement for him.

Earl Johnson was slightly disappointed.

Earl Black stood up and said, "Congratulations on passing the test. From now on, you have become a mage apprentice. You can go to Moldo Mage Academy with me tomorrow and start learning how to become a mage."

Master Black continued: "Your qualifications are all excellent, but don't be obsessed with your qualifications. It is only useful in the apprenticeship stage. Learning knowledge, mastering knowledge, using knowledge to change the soul, and exploring the truth. This is the true meaning of the mage's path. Remember, knowledge is the most precious wealth and the most powerful force."

Adam and Opheliacie bowed slightly to him and said, "Yes, respectful Master Black."

Just as Mage Black was about to leave, Adam suddenly asked, "What is the rune?"

Master Black stopped and looked at Adam and said, "Good question, as your guide, I can answer one question for you for free, so is that what you are asking?"
