Chapter 724 Skip 1G and go directly to the 2G era

"China has only had a few 1G pilot projects now. I want to ask my opinion, that is, don't do 1G, there is no future! Just start with a 2G network!" After returning to China, Lin Qi went to Beijing to communicate with the leaders and made suggestions directly.

"Experts say 1G network is cheap..." said the leader.

"If it is put into production, it will be eliminated when it is put into production. You cannot export and cannot make foreign exchange. Even if these backward technologies are introduced, we will slow down our development speed, which will force our domestic market to pay for the backward 1G infrastructure. It will widen the gap between the domestic industry and the international market." Lin Qi said frankly, "Even if 1G mobile phones and base stations are cheaper now, don't do it! If it is done, there is no prospect, and the cost is actually much higher than the current 2G network promotion. For the construction of 2G network, I think that as long as our country charges reasonable, more than 100 million users in ten years, it will have a future than landlines. In the future, the users of landlines will not be

Mainstream, mobile phones are the mainstream. Our domestic market will have a scale of hundreds of billions or even trillions a year in the future. In the later stage, not only does the government not need to pay money, but it will continue to provide employment, profits, and feed back to our technology industry, at least a few more top 500 companies in the world. Our country cannot plan the economy in the early stage of reform and opening up. The idea of picking up junk will be dragged down on the country's economic development in the future. The most cutting-edge technology cannot be just usable, but the best and latest! Moreover, not only we use it, but we can develop industries. The current 2G communications industry is almost such a good direction!”

"Okay! Lin Qi said that, we will withstand the pressure and not build 1G or 2G in parallel, but directly build 2G network!"

The first generation of mobile communication technology, that is, the large-scale commercial application of 1G analog cellular networks, began in the 1970s.

However, the world's earliest first generation of mobile communication technology and the first mobile phone should have been invented by the Soviet engineer Leonid Kupriyanovich in 1957. Leonid Kupriyanovich is not only the inventor of mobile communication technology and mobile phones, but also has written and published more than 500 professional scientific books in his life. It can be said that he is a scientific genius similar to Tesla.

Unfortunately, the Soviet Union did not provide a stage similar to that of Europe and the United States, inventing large-scale applications and commercialization, and only established base stations in some urban areas. It was just a technology to show off the success of Soviet technology, and it did not commercialize and popularize it to the entire Soviet Union.

In 1976, Martin Cooper, an engineer of Motorola, reinvented the technology of mobile phones and the first generation of communication base stations. Moreover, the technology was not as advanced as the ЛК-1 mobile phone invented by the Soviet engineer Leonid Kupriyanovich in the 1950s. On the contrary, the ЛК-1 mobile phone was reduced from 3 kilograms to 500 grams within a few years after its invention. Motorola's big brother was still a brick weighing several kilograms after it was launched in the 1980s.

After Leonid Kupriyanovich invented the mobile phone, he also tried to sell it in the Soviet Union. However, the sky-high price of up to 300 to 400 rubles made the ЛК-1 mobile phone and its communication base station technology unable to be promoted and popularized in the Soviet Union. The Soviet government did not adopt any subsidy methods to promote the popularization and commercialization of its own mobile phones. After all, in the eyes of the Soviet government, producing things is completely according to the plan and cannot make profits from it. Therefore, if you can not produce mass production, you will not produce them. Anyway, producing one thing can only bring trouble, not profits or other benefits.

It is precisely because the economic laws were not used, that is, to provide effective incentives for production and technological innovation, that the productivity of the Soviet Union lacked development momentum. Capitalist countries used profits as rewards to encourage capitalists to put into production and promote production, which became a more effective means of promoting new technologies and new products in this era.

So much so that the Soviet Union developed 1G base stations and mobile phones 20 years earlier than the United States, but this industry did not develop until the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Ironically, on the eve of the collapse of the Soviet Union, in the 1990s, the Soviet government suddenly wanted to introduce the first generation of cellular network communication technology and import big brothers from the United States when foreign exchange was tight. However, they knew that the technology they introduced was already something Soviet scientists had been playing with in the 1950s.

If the Soviet bureaucrats had a little business acumen, they could use their national strength to forcibly promote the mobile phone system to the Soviet Union in the past 30 years, and rely on large-scale applications to reduce costs. After that, they even had the opportunity to export foreign exchange and promote technology and standards. Unfortunately, the Soviet Union had a large number of promising advanced technologies and inventions. This is because the bureaucrats without business acumen and economic consciousness, the industry has not been formed for decades. The originally awesome advanced technologies have been dragged down and become the tears of the times.

In fact, in the early 1990s, 2G networks had just appeared. The United States developed the CDMA standard, and Europe had just set the GSM standard. With the domestic economic level at that time, it was difficult to make strategic decisions to follow up on international advanced technologies. Instead, in order to be greedy for cheapness, they chose some technologies that had been lagging behind after using some years.

When Europe, the United States and other countries are building 2G communication networks, many domestic telecommunications industries are building analog networks in the 1G era, such as the introduction of the UK's total access communication system (TACS) and Japan's PHS wireless local call technology (Xiao Lingtong).

These technologies were later proved to be backward technologies that slowed down the development of China's telecommunications industry. Not only those base stations and mobile phone production lines were backward when they started production. Historically, the reason why these technologies were developed was that they were poor, so they had to pick up garbage abroad. People did not want to eliminate garbage goods, and happily introduced them to absorb and digest them.

However, under Lin Qi's suggestion, the three major telecom operators in China, China Unicom and Telecom will not build a 1G network anymore. Instead, they will start investing funds and resources, and start focusing on GSM base stations and mobile terminals.

Moreover, at the beginning of this era, domestic mobile communications was not the dominant mobile company, and Telecom and China Unicom also obtained licenses.

Historically, Telecom and China Unicom introduced Xiaolingtong at the beginning, mainly because in the early days, China Unicom was not allowed to engage in the mobile communications industry, and only approved a mobile company to operate mobile phones. China Unicom and China Unicom had to play the edge without taking photos and adopted Xiaolingtong system. Because Xiaolingtong's communication network is a product between the fixed phone system and 1G analog base station technology. Therefore, this kind of mobile communication service was done in the name of fixed phones. After China Unicom and China Telecom took photos, they began to withdraw the backward Xiaolingtong from the network, free up valuable frequency band resources, and give way to the 4G network.

Now Lin Qi suggests not to develop 1G websites directly because of backward networks that also require occupancy of frequency bands. If you can directly develop 2G, you can start directly from 2G. The 2G industry just emerged in the early 1990s. It is not only possible to use related base stations and mobile phones, but also to export and earn foreign exchange.

Historically, Samsung relied on gritting its teeth to do mobile phone business in the 2G era. Although Samsung's patent reserves are not as good as those of Nokia, Motorola and other companies, it focuses on cost-effectiveness. With continuous exploration and accumulation, Samsung later obtained more and more patent reserves related to mobile phones and communication technology, laying a solid foundation for Samsung's mobile phones in the 3G and 4G eras to grow to the world's largest mobile phone market share.

Just like Samsung, there are only tens of millions of people in the local market, and they basically rely on overseas markets. In the development of overseas markets, the number of patents is the core competitiveness. Without patent authorization, the overseas market cannot be sold at all. Even if you obtain a patent authorization, if your own patent reserves are not large, then a lot of companies will come to ask for patent fees and will not be able to gain a foothold in the industry at all.

Therefore, to do a high-tech industry, you can only develop a lot of necessary and basic patents by yourself. Then, you can cross-authorize these patents with other companies in the industry and reduce patent fees from each other to reduce costs.
