Chapter 214 Unfortunate Semenov

Grigory Mikhailovich Semehonov (Гpnгo?pnnmnxa?nлoвnчcemehoв) was born on September 25, 1890. This guy was originally from the Transbaikal Province. In Wang Geng's previous life, Semehonov was the leader of Belarus in the Baikal region from 1917 to 1920.

This guy was rated as a typical rogue Cossack leader in his previous life, but he was a regular non-commissioned officer who graduated from the Orenburg Military School in 1911 and participated in the battle on the Eastern Front of the European War. In July 1917, Semenov served as the representative of the Provisional Government in the Lake Baikal area, responsible for recruiting Cossacks.

This was a very remarkable achievement for Xie Miaonov, who was only 27 years old at the time. In Wang Geng's previous life, the official documents generally talked about the Bai Guard Army as an army organized by royalists and generals who were loyal to the Tsar. In fact, it was not the case that the Bai Guard Army was quite complex and was a complex of various anti-Bolshevik forces.

For example, Semenov, this guy is a speculator loyal to the Provisional Government. Of course, he was not lucky, and this was on the White Guards rather than the Red Army. During the October Revolution, the Provisional Government was overthrown by a small mentor and his party. Semenov, the representative of the Provisional Government in the Baikal District, led the Cossacks to raise the anti-flag.

Semenov launched a rebellion against the Bolsheviks, but the group of mobs that were temporarily gathered was no match for the Bolsheviks. They fled to China after being defeated. In January 1918, with the acquiesce of the Chinese government, Semenov recruited four battalions of the Volunteer Army in Hailar, Anangxi and other places along the Middle East Railway. The members mainly came from the officers and soldiers of the Tsarist Russian Middle East Railway guard team who had been disarmed, and Tsarist Russian immigrants who lived in the area.

According to Wang Geng's instructions, the Heilongjiang Governor Wang Tingzhen sent back the Russian rifles and some ammunition that could arm four battalions, allowing him to leave from Manzhouli and return to the Baikal Lake District to engage in activities. In fact, he became a scattered soldier and robber in the Outer Baikal area. He robbed the train and robbed the business traveler, did everything, but did nothing.

Chita certainly dared not go at this moment. Unlike the easternmost part of the Far East, such as Vladivostok and Boli, which are swaying between supporting the provisional government or the new Soviet regime, Chita is now the Bolsheviks who have completely grasped the leadership of the garrison. Although the name of the Red Army has not been officially changed, Chita has 8,000 people and one regular garrison of strengthening brigade, not the bandits, which are known as four battalions, but in fact, only 1,000 people can deal with Cossacks.

As for why this guy didn't leave Suifenhe to Vladivostok or Khabarovsk to conquer the world, the reason is very simple. The guy got the name from the Provisional Government is just the representative of the Provisional Government in the Baikal Region. Compared with Lieutenant General Andropov, the commander of the Far East Military Region of Khabarovsk and his more than 10,000 people, this guy's mob of thousands of people could not get the dominance at all. The same is true for Vladivostok, so this guy's eyes could only focus on the Baikal Region first.

Ulan Ude, a hub station on the Siberian Railway, originally stationed a Russian Cossack regiment of Colonel Petrovich. Although the team of more than 3,000 people is not strong, and it is not something that Semenov dared to provoke easily. However, before leaving, this guy slapped Li Mingzhong, the then Qiqihar commander, and said that as long as there is Chinese weapons, ammunition and food support, he will soon be able to pull a team from the Baikal District!

When Sun Liangcheng's brigade of the Third Division of the Chinese War Army rushed to capture Ulan Ud at a lightning speed, the team that slipped back to his hometown really spanned together from the four battalions of the Volunteer Army to more than 3,000 people, but the weapons were uneven. The Maxim wheeled machine guns of Mara only had two Maxim wheeled machine guns, not many bullets, and all kinds of rifles, from the m1891 Mosin-Nagan Russian army standard rifles, to the Hanyang-made in China, to the 38 guns of Japan, it was almost as messy as two people used a gun together.

In fact, the Cossacks were not so embarrassed. From ancient times to the present, the Cossacks have brought their own horses and weapons, and accepted the government's recruitment to participate in the battle. However, it is now a chaotic Russia in 1918. Tsarist Russia has always been a general mobilization in participating in the European war. This battle was fought from August 1914 to March 1917. The two and a half years of bloody battle caused the Russian Don River and the high-quality Cossack soldiers to be recruited, including their own weapons and equipment.

Then after the February Revolution last year, the Provisional Government carried out a second large-scale recruitment in order to carry out the war on the Eastern Front. At this time, Semenov, a 27-year-old young officer, got involved in the identity of a representative of the Baikal District and returned to his hometown to ask the Provisional Government to recruit Cossacks.

As a result, the personnel quality of this second team was much worse than when the Tsar was summoned two years ago. Most of the brave and fearless Cossacks fell on the battlefield of blood-fighting on the Eastern Front and Germany and Austria. Those who survived were either the so-called revolutionary soldiers who defected to the Bolsheviks, or the scattered soldiers who were displaced after the Tsarist Russian army was demobilized.

It was the second Cossacks who had poor quality in the army. After Semenov rebelled and was defeated by the former Russian army loyal to the Soviet Union, they experienced a second disintegration. This was the third time that Semenov returned to his hometown to recruit soldiers. Not to mention weapons and equipment, it was already quite difficult to get a horse to get a horse.

The temperature at the end of February was still below zero. Semenov and his strong bandits ate all the food they got after the last robbery. They were so hungry that they set their minds on the city of Selenkinsk, 60 kilometers west of Ulan Ud. This place is close to Lake Baikal, which is located at the mouth of the Selenge River entering Lake Baikal. The area near the lakeside north of the city is a rare impact plain area and is also a grain-producing area in the Baikal area. Although spring has not come yet, the remaining grain last year should be more than other places.

When Semenov had more than 3,000 Cossack bandits teams broke into Selenkinsk City and ransacked, they miserably encountered Colonel Petrovich's Cossack Cavalry Regiment, who had retreated from Ulan Ud. This was stunned. When Petrovich's Cossack Cavalry Regiment was frustrated and had no time to take away the arms and supplies when they evacuated from Ulan Ud.

A cavalry regiment with more than 3,000 people escaped from Ulan Ude before the evening. Leng did not dare to stop and walked along the Siberian Railway. Since Ulan Ude had been occupied by the Central Team, a train from east to west could not be seen. The train from west to east was cut off because the Semenov gang broke into Selentinsk City, so Colonel Pedrovich's regiment rode his horse for half the night. Leng had walked a hundred kilometers of road and saw the burning fires in Selentinsk City and heard the sound of gunfire.

Colonel Petrovic, who was covered in stinky sweat and cold tears and snot, could not believe his eyes.

"Chief of Staff... the Chinese have surrounded our retreat? Can even Selenkinsk be occupied by them? Can they really fly?" Petrovic's nose was red and he asked the Chief of Staff wrapped in a thick coat beside him.

"No, right? It's across the mountain. Maybe someone's cooking in the city caught fire?" The Chief of Staff couldn't believe his eyes. The whole regiment walked away in the middle of the night, was tired, frozen and hungry, so he wanted to arrive at Selenkinsk City to rest and take a breath and get something to eat! If he encounters the Zhongzhang team again, the morale of the army will be dispersed. How can he fight?

The Cossack soldiers around were also shocked and wondered. Fortunately, when the vanguard was exploring the way, Cossack quickly led a few fellow villagers who escaped from the city to the front of his regiment commander and chief of staff. After a few words, it turned out that it was the Xiemiaonov bandits who were looting the city and robbing food to harm the people!

It was said that the Semiaonov gang was in the city, and Petrovic had the confidence and jumped up immediately! "Semiaonov?! Didn't that Cossack scum defeated the last time and ran to Manchuria, China? Why did he slip back so quickly!"

"The whole regiment listens to my order! The target Semenov bandits in Selenkinsk City will attack! Those who dare to resist will kill you!"
