Chapter 64: Hamburger(1/2)

"jingle"

As the crisp wind chimes rang, Ahao walked into the shop.

This is a bar-type restaurant common in Agadi.

The restaurant's signboard is a three-layered neon sign with meat and pancakes inside. It's easy to tell that it specializes in burgers, a cheap delicacy common in Agadi.

Inside the store, the wide and long bar doubles as a cashier and occupies a large area in the northwest corner of the store.

There are several fixed high stools in front of the bar, suitable for customers who come alone.

Through the bar counter, you can see the semi-open kitchen at the rear. There is a door leading to the back kitchen on the right side of the bar counter.

Ah Hao, who had already visited the kitchen, knew that there was a staircase leading upstairs inside the kitchen.

There are many tables and chairs on the window side and east side of the store. The table is large enough for four people to sit across from each other, and the tables are separated by partitions.

The entire store is quite spacious, but there is not a single customer in the store.

There used to be only two people in the store: the owner and the kitchen staff. Counting Ah Hao, there will now be three people in the store.

Behind the bar, the owner wears a turban and has a sparse beard.

The smell wafted out of him, a bit like a garbage dump, with a sour smell.

——It's not because of hygiene problems. Ahao can smell it. People who are disappointed with life usually have this smell.

Hearing the sound of wind chimes, he raised his head, and a smile appeared on his haggard face: "You are back again, Mr. Ahao."

"Yes, after going around for a while, Mr. Potter, you are still the best here." Ahao said honestly.

Porter's shop owner grinned, and this news made him feel much better.

"Looks like I can finally get out of this shitty store."

He took off his apron and threw it directly on the bar.

"Hey, it's inappropriate for you to take off your clothes so quickly. We haven't even agreed on a price yet."

Ah Hao said straightforwardly.

Porter smiled bitterly: "I regretted it after you left. Anyway, I am losing money every day I open it. It would be better to transfer it directly, and I can lose a little less.

"I'm not going to sell it at 20,000 a month. I'll just go with your previous offer, which is 15,000 a month. I want to end this painful torture right now!"

Ah Hao sat on the high stool in front of the bar and said shamelessly: "Ha, I was full of words to lower the price. I didn't expect you to be so understanding, boss."

After a whole day of embarrassment and social death, Ah Hao has now let himself go a little bit.

His current state is a bit like being drunk, he dares to say anything, and he doesn't feel any embarrassment anymore.

Once he accepts his own truth, he is invincible.

"Haha, I just like talking to people like you, so transparent!"

Porter also sat down at the bar and said melancholy: "It's not like the chef before me. He treated me respectfully on the surface, but secretly he was full of evil. If he hadn't run away with my secret recipe,

If it doesn’t, my store won’t collapse so quickly.”

"Can there be a secret recipe for burgers?" Ahao asked curiously.

"Haha, of course." When talking about cooking, Potter's gray face suddenly emitted a gleam of light.

"Aroma and juiciness are the secrets to making a good burger. The top bun must be toasted just right to bring out the aroma of fermented flour. The beef in the middle must be fresh and properly blended. This way, it can be fully cooked after grilling.

The charming aroma of meat and fat.

"When you bite into a burger like this, the juices will splash everywhere. It feels like a firework has been set off in your mind, and with a 'bang' sound, it is guaranteed to blow you away."

Ah Hao's olfactory imagination began to work at full capacity. Just listening to the description made his saliva begin to secrete continuously.

"Sounds good. It should be much better than any burger I've ever eaten. So why are there no customers in the store?"

After Potter was silent for a while, he raised his trembling hand: "See, I can't cook anymore! The old injury recurred. The cook who knew how to cook ran away again, leaving only a ignorant boy.

In the kitchen, diners are the pickiest. If your food doesn’t taste good, they won’t come next time.”

He waved his hand, "Stop talking and sign the sublease contract."

With trembling hands, he took out a stack of stamped papers from the drawer under the bar.

"Here, it's all here, take a look."

Ahao turned the contract over and read it carefully.

Mr Porter has eight months left on his contract, which is due to expire at about the end of the year.

"So I should pay you a transfer fee of about 120,000 yuan at a monthly price of 15,000 yuan, right?"

The rent contract signed between Porter and the landlord is 20,000 yuan per month. Ahao can rent such a two-story shop for 15,000 yuan, which is indeed a bargain.

Potter nodded and then said:

"After eight months, if you still want to rent here, you have to negotiate with the landlord again. By then, the price will not be so cheap."

"Mr. Potter, I have another question. Do you still want the equipment in the store?"

"I still want the things in the kitchen, the old guy who eats. I don't want the rest of the tables and chairs. I'll go get a scrap collector and throw them all to him. Anyway, I can't move these big things.

Object."

"That's great. I can be a scrap collector. You can give me the ones you don't need. They will have a second life in my hands." Ah Hao said in surprise.

"Then you can add another 5,000 Canadian dollars. Apart from the kitchen duties, everything else is left to you."

"Okay, then this is the deal?"

"make a deal!"

Both parties signed the contract, and Ahao transferred 125,000 Canadian dollars to Porter using a magnetic card.

Seeing the numbers on the cash register, Porter shouted half excitedly and half relieved.

"I quit!"

Then he stood up and called to the kitchen: "Penn!"

"Penn! Don't sleep! The store is closed, you don't have to come to work tomorrow!"

"What!!!"

It was accompanied by a scream that could be described as shrill.

A young man with orange hair came out of the kitchen.

He was wearing a white chef's robe, and his green face was dotted with freckles.

He showed an expression of disbelief: "What about my salary this month?"

"I will pay you a full month's salary. Okay, go upstairs and pack your things. The store is not open today, so just close it."

His expression gradually became bitter: "Then what should I do next month? My sister is still waiting for me to pay his tuition fee."

Potter patted his shoulder: "There will be a way."

Ahao suddenly asked at this time: "How much is your monthly salary?"

Payne looked at Potter. Potter nodded to him, and then Payne said: "I used to have two thousand and five Canadian dollars a month when I was working as a waiter, but now I have four thousand Canadian dollars a month as a cook, but I don't get any tips."

Now. I would say it’s not as good as before.”

Ah Hao nodded. Unexpectedly, the wages paid by restaurants in the lower city were higher than his. He wondered if the previous salary had given the shop owner some money.

Potter seemed to have thought of something and suggested: "Since we are going to close the door, why don't you sit down and have dinner, Mr. Hao. We will consume all the remaining ingredients."

"Okay! Of course it's okay if you can have a meal! And I really want to eat a burger now."

"Okay, then I'll show you what a real hamburger is!"

Mr. Porter put on his apron again, and the three of them walked into the kitchen together.

In the kitchen, the ambitious Porter picked up the knife again and wanted to make a burger with his own hands again.

Unfortunately, he gave up within 5 minutes.

His trembling hands could hardly hold the knife. When making meatloaf, it was impossible to chop the meat like this.

Finally, he sighed and handed the knife back to Payne.

"I made you laugh, Mr. Ahao."

Then he guided Payne almost step by step, seemingly still obsessed with making what might be the last burger in his life.

The entire kitchen area is actually quite large. After Payne cuts the lettuce, onions and patties on the left, he has to go to the iron rice on the right to grill them.

Finally, take out the bread from the oven in the middle and return to the left side to assemble the burger.

After finishing the burger, he has to go back to the right and fry some more fries.

It is really difficult for Payne to manage such a large kitchen by himself.

It was the first time for Ahao to watch the whole process of making food in the kitchen, and he still watched it with gusto.

Especially when the meatloaf squeaked on the iron plate, he enjoyed the rich aroma of the meat.
