Chapter 17 Deep in the Ruins

Entering this inverted pyramid-like ruins again, Li Wenyuan felt like he was in another world.

Unlike its futuristic exterior, the interior of the inverted pyramid is a limestone-like structure.

The smell of wind erosion lingers on the inner wall, and you can still see the gaps between each piece of sand and stone.

At first glance, it looks very ancient and seems incompatible with science fiction architecture.

However, after actually getting started, you will find that these things are really just limestone.

A synth can wipe off some debris with just a swipe.

The test report also stated that these stones were pure limestone without any abnormalities.

But this is the most unusual thing.

Why do such rocky inner walls appear in this apparently ultra-generational science fiction building?

Li Wenyuan was puzzled and could only hope that the aliens could decipher the secrets here.

So he walked slowly at the end, not worrying that the invisible synthetic man would be discovered.

In line with the appearance of the inverted pyramid, the space here becomes wider from bottom to top, and the secrets buried are also at the top.

Walking through a spiral staircase, the upward space gradually becomes wider.

Soon, he reached the top.

This is the deepest part of the ruins, and it is also the place where Li Wenyuan has never been able to find the problem.

The remaining four members of the small alien team gathered here and seemed to be discussing the situation here.

Li Wenyuan did not approach rashly, but heard their conversation with the super hearing of the synthesizer.

"...Cowper, did you find anything?"

"I didn't observe it carefully when I ran away. Now that I think about it, the appearance of this ruins is actually somewhat similar to the records in my father's manuscript." Cowper turned out the old manuscript and pointed at a page to everyone.

So said.

If Li Wenyuan could see it, he would definitely be surprised, because on that page, there is a pyramid!

There is even a very familiar statue lying beside the pyramid: the Sphinx.

We must know that these wonders cannot even be found on the earth today. Why do they appear in an alien's manuscript?

The professor's eyes flashed, and he quickly pointed out his shortcomings:

"That's right. If you just look at the shape, the two ruins are as similar but different as reflections. But you and I both know that the square pyramid is an extremely common shape in the universe."

"Even if it was a primitive civilization, they might have built buildings with similar shapes. We cannot confuse these two relics."

This sentence makes sense. The square pyramid is indeed a very common shape. Even among other alien civilizations, many of them will build buildings with similar shapes.

Cowper was silent for a while, and then said somewhat helplessly:

"We have been exploring this ruins for so long, and we haven't found anything, and we haven't encountered any dangers."

"There are no carriers that can provide intuitive information here. This ruins feels like an empty shell to me, and everything that should exist inside is missing."

His words were also Li Wenyuan's innermost thoughts. This ruins was the most empty ruins he had ever explored. It looked like there was really nothing, not even danger.

This is extremely rare on this planet. Li Wenyuan has encountered terrifying ruins defense systems more than once, but this ruin is just ordinary.

"...But there's nothing we can do about just waiting. Who knows if the black fog has dissipated."

"Assuming that this ruin is of the same type as the ruins your father explored, can you analyze anything?"

The young man who had assassinated the fat man was a little unwilling and urged Cowper to say something.

Cowper glanced at him and finally decided to follow his train of thought.

"... There are many code words and codes used in my father's manuscripts. I have not been able to completely decipher them until now, and I can only get limited information."

"He believes that this kind of square pyramid-shaped ruins was used by that lost civilization to... uh, bury the dead."

"Bury the dead?" the young man couldn't help but ask:

"Are you kidding me? Such a huge building is just for burying dead people?"

"Judging from the information in the manuscript, this is indeed the case, but it is also possible that my interpretation is not perfect enough." Cowper reluctantly added, after all, he did not believe that this kind of building existed only as a tomb.

The speaker has no intention, but the listener has intention.

Li Wenyuan, who was hiding, showed a surprised expression. It was normal for these aliens not to know, but as an earthling, he knew that the pyramid existed as a tomb.

"Cowper, continue your speculation. Maybe we can unlock the secret here." The professor who was listening carefully frowned and was thinking hard, wanting to use more information to make a judgment.

Cowper continued to speak after seeing this: "According to my father's speculation, the deepest part of the ruins should contain the remains of a certain creature. That creature should have made great contributions to the entire civilization, and therefore received such treatment.

"

"But the expedition team he was part of failed to enter the depths of the ruins. What they encountered there was not recorded in the manuscript, but judging from the results, it was obvious that it was an extremely dangerous existence."

"This place seems to be the opposite of the 'mausoleum ruins'. We did not encounter any danger, but we did not obtain any information."

"If we speculate from the 'opposite' perspective, that the ruins are for burying the dead, then maybe this ruins is...'resurrecting the dead'?"

His bold guess made everyone stunned for a moment, and then the young man laughed: "Resurrection of the dead? It would be better if you discuss this kind of thing with those stupid idealists!"

Laughter still echoed in the space, but everyone ignored him and frowned in thought.

Seeing this, the young man stopped laughing, looked at the crowd in disbelief and said, "...you won't believe it, right? Isn't this an idea that is completely divorced from reality?"

"...The resurrection of the dead is not an unrealistic idea. If you have read Professor Calles's latest paper, you will know that there is a level three civilization that has almost completed the feat of resurrecting the dead."

"In fact, many idealistic civilizations have conducted research in this area, and there were related papers in the last 'Science Exchange Conference'."

"Not only that, some materialistic civilizations and global enterprises are also quietly researching related technologies. This is not a topic worth laughing at. Its impact on ethics is even part of what we must think about."

Cowper's explanation made the young man turn blue and white, and in the end he could only remain silent with an ugly expression.

Li Wenyuan, who was hiding, also had a new idea because of what these aliens said.

But it's not about the "resurrection of the dead", it's about the "opposite".

"The pyramids are not only used to bury the dead, but are also responsible for allowing souls to ascend to heaven..."

"...Then is this inverted pyramid here to guide 'what'?"

His eyes flickered, lost in thought.
