Chapter 1228 Xuanzang, Debate Ji and Gao Yang(1/2)

In the golden autumn of October, the wind is light and the clouds are light and the sun is just right.

Today, the yamen was closed. As a non-staff member of the Xijing Bureau of the Fufu Department, Xuanzang also received paid holidays. After a light lunch, Xuanzang began to continue his writing.

The Record of the Western Regions of the Tang Dynasty has been written in the tenth volume. This book is what he saw along the way when he was supported by Prince Chengqian to travel to the Western Regions. He traveled to more than 200 countries and city-states along the way. The Pacification Department hoped that he would record these as important documents.

Xuanzang traveled west for several years, searching for scriptures and asking about Buddha along the way, learning and translating countless Buddhist scriptures and scriptures of Mahayana and Hinayana, and also translated Lao Tzu and the Analects of Confucius from the Central Plains of China into Sanskrit and taught them to various countries.

I remembered my five years of studying abroad and seeking Buddha in Nalanda Temple in Tianzhu, as if it was yesterday.

He refused the retention of King Jieri of Tianzhu, resigned from the supreme master, and only brought 520 mahayana and Hinayana Buddhist scriptures, 657 chapters to return to the Tang Dynasty.

Unfortunately, he was respectfully sponsored by the prince to go to the Western Regions, but when he came back, he did not receive the treatment he had before. As soon as he entered the border Buddhist scriptures, he was banned. He was also escorted back to Chang'an by border soldiers.

Fortunately, the Pacification Department finally recruited him as a non-staff member, which was spared from prison or exile.

The scriptures he brought were banned and confiscated, and he was not allowed to preach the scriptures, but this did not defeat him, and he still maintained a strong peace.

Every day when he wrote the free time of the Tang Dynasty's Western Regions Records, he would quietly use the paper, pen and ink to write the scriptures he learned in the Western Regions.

The Bian Ji brought him a roll of new paper.

"Teacher, I'm here."

The thirty-year-old Master Bian Ji was handsome and heroic. He was a monk at the age of fifteen and was named Da Zongchi Temple. He was a disciple of Master Dayue. Later, he was suppressed by Buddhism at the beginning of Zhenguan. Bian Ji was forced to return to secular life. However, with the help of Dayue, he obtained a certificate of vassality and became a monk at Huichang Temple in Chang'an.

He devoted himself to studying Buddhism for more than ten years and once followed Xuanzang to travel to Japan to promote Buddhism. He was familiar with the interpretation of Mahayana and Hinayana sutras and treatises, and was deeply respected in Japan. Later, Xuanzang returned to China and went to the Western Regions. Bianji continued to preach the Dharma in Japan for several years, becoming the nine great masters of Japanese writings at that time.

The great master, transliterated by Sanskrit, is a respectful title for Buddhas, Bodhisattvas or monks in India.

In Japan, the monks who came from the Tang Dynasty to spread the Dharma and spread Buddhism were respectful and great masters. The masters of the great masters of the Tang Dynasty’s Buddhist scriptures translated.

It is said that the queen, princess, princesses, ladies and others in Japan like this great master very much and often go to find the great master. Anyway, the years that Bianji was in Japan were in full bloom, and even the government of Japan could interfere, and was regarded as the national teacher by the queen.

However, later Bian Ji crossed the sea to return to Tang, saying that he heard that Xuanzang came back and wanted to learn the scriptures and rules he had retrieved from the West. However, it is said that he ran away because although he was in Japan, he was entangled with the noble ladies of Japan. Not only did he have an ambiguous relationship with the queen, but he even had too close relationship with a princess, and he ended up getting involved in a rebellion case.

Bian Ji almost lost his life, but fortunately the queen was fully protecting her and finally escaped. However, in Japan, he could not gain a foothold and had to return to Tang.

After returning to the Tang Dynasty, the Bian Ji was quite glorious, because he had a mission when he went to Japan. In the years of his life, the effect of promoting Buddhism was indeed good. Under his leadership, Japan built three major temples, one by one, which was magnificent and could be called three Buddhist cities. The status of Chinese Buddhism in Japan has made rapid progress, and it suddenly became the spiritual belief of the Japanese people from aristocrats to civilians.

Although the mainland aristocrats represented by Suwo clan also supported the Buddhism that spread the Japanese from Baekje, they were still opposed by local conservatives. With the efforts of Xuanzang and Bian Ji, Buddhism was in full swing in Japan.

Everyone admires Buddha.

With this, after Bian Ji returned to the Tang Dynasty, he was also very glorious and was appointed as the master of Puguang Temple in Chang'an.

"I'll help the teacher record the transcript and the teacher tells it orally."

Bian Ji still respects Xuanzang very much and always holds the etiquette of his disciples. He writes well and writes very well. Xuanzang tells oral words, and his writings are polished. The two of them cooperate with each other, which is much faster than Xuanzang himself.

"How come you smell like perfume?" Xuanzang asked.

Bian Ji smiled, "Today, I met several female donors who asked the Buddha to ask for the Dharma, so I followed the lectures on the sutras, which was delayed for some time, but unexpectedly it was also stained with some perfume."

Xuanzang had long been aware of the habits of Bian Ji. Although he was well versed in Buddhist scriptures, his six senses were impure.

"The six senses should be pure and concentrated."

He reminded Bian Ji not to make mistakes in Japan again. This is Chang'an and this is the Tang Dynasty. Although the ladies in Chang'an are also very unrestrained and enthusiastic, don't get involved, otherwise there will be endless troubles.

The court has suppressed the Buddha over the years and has many restrictions on Buddhism and monks. If they easily violate the precepts, they are afraid that not only will the monk's certificate be lost, but their lives will not be saved.

The debunking machine didn't seem to listen.

Xuanzang wanted to persuade him again, and General Xu Luoren, the Zuo Yulin, came in under the leadership of Wei Chang, the Xijing District of the Fushishi.

"The saint summoned Master Xuanzang to meet him."

Xuanzang was a little surprised that since the Emperor of the Tang Dynasty ascended the throne, he suppressed Buddhism only slightly lighter than the two emperors of Wei Wu and Zhou Wu who destroyed Buddhism. However, the two emperors of Wei Wu and Zhou Wu who destroyed Buddhism back then did not cause such great damage to Buddhism now.

Emperor Zhenguan truly did what Emperor Taiwu of the Northern Wei Dynasty and Emperor Wu of the Northern Zhou Dynasty had never done, suppressing Buddhism without saying a word.

Xuanzang had an objection to this emperor, but he could not refuse the emperor's summons. He also always hoped to have an opportunity to meet the emperor in this way to convince the emperor of Zhenguan to accept Buddhism and regain the Buddhist spirit.

Xuanzang got up and was about to meet the saint.

Xu Luoren took out a white linen and handed it to him, "The monk's robe is not suitable for the monk's robe, please change into this white linen and cloth!"

Xuanzang did not insist and took the common man to change it.

Xu Luoren took Xuanzang away, but Wei Chang stayed.

He glanced at the manuscript of the Western Regions of the Tang Dynasty, whose pen and ink were not dry on the table, and then looked at Bian Ji.

"President of the Bian Ji, can you please go to my peacekeeping department for a cup of tea?"

"Since Master Xuanzang has entered the palace to meet the saint, I should go back to the temple."

Wei Chang went to stop him.

"Our tutoring department invites tea, but we can never refuse!"

"What do you mean?"

"Haha, I should know better than me. The perfume smell on you is quite special. It is produced from the Qin Family Perfume House in Taiping Port. This fragrance is very unique. As far as I know, it is an exclusive customized version, and a small bottle is worth a thousand guan. Who is the owner of this perfume? I understand better than me. That little master is not something you can easily provoke. You have committed a big taboo."

"I don't know what the donor is saying, so say goodbye!"

"Haha, always insist that you don't forget what I, Wei Chang, do not toast and not eat and punish wine. If you don't admit the perfume, then I'll remind you again, a gift you have received recently is the imperial forbidden object in the palace, the golden treasure pillow with gold and jade inlaid is the object on the dragon couch in the saint's bedroom. Do you dare to accept it? Do you know how much sin you have committed?"

Bian Ji's face changed drastically, and the monk was no longer calm at this time.

Explained, "The pillow is just a gift from a noble man. It is said that it was worshipped by the Buddha, not for me. I don't know the origin of this pillow, so I am willing to hand over this pillow immediately."

"hehe."

"It's too late!"

Wei Chang sneered, "Why do you think I would mention this pillow to you? Because that pillow is no longer in your meditation room. Jinwu Guard arrested a thief, and there was this pillow in his stolen goods. He truthfully confessed his crime."

"You said you offered Buddha, but why did the thief steal the pillow from the couch in your meditation room?"

Bian Ji's face flushed.

"You don't need to explain, explanation is to cover up. Please come with me now."

"Duke Wei, can you forgive me? This matter is too deeply involved and it will not end well if it happens."

"Threatening me? Even that little master cannot threaten me like this. Our tutor is only loyal to the saints. But now you dare to steal the saints' favorite things. Do we still want to hide them for you?"

"Duke Wei, I know that you have the best relationship with Duke Wei. I have also done things for Duke Wei. When I went to Japan, it was Duke Wei's arrangement. I live up to the mission..."

"Don't talk about Duke Wei. Duke Wei is my benefactor, so you deserve to mention it?"

North Palace in Chang'an, Daming Palace.

This Daming Palace, built by Qin Lang, was once built for the Supreme Emperor. The Supreme Emperor did spend his last few years of good times here, and then was vacant for many years. Now that the emperor has returned to Chang'an, he has also lived here.

When the eunuch in the hall saw Xu Luoren bringing Xuanzang in, he rolled up the bead curtain lightly and let them in.

The fragrance in the hall is strong, and the bronze beast furnace is rising.

There are only two people in the hall.

One is the son of today, and the other is the famous general Yuchi Gong.

However, the king and his ministers were all disheveled at this time, and their loose robes were still open.

Xu Luoren came to the imperial court, and was not surprised and whispered, "Your Majesty, Xuanzang Xuan is here."

The emperor raised his head, glanced at it, and then said he knew.

After a long time of laziness, he said again, "I and Jingde have just accepted mica powder, so you can do it a little too!"

"I am a servant and I dare not neglect my duties." Xu Luoren thanked me.

In recent years, the emperor's health has become increasingly unhealthy. The palace's prestige doctors, including the famous doctors in the Imperial Medical Department, are helpless. No matter what precious medicinal materials are, they cannot alleviate the emperor's increasingly poor dragon body.

The emperor had no choice but to ask the immortal for help and began to alchemy for the golden pill.

Yuchi Gong has not had much serious work these years. He joined the self-study path of practicing Taoism and alchemy earlier than the emperor, and even achieved a little success. So now the emperor likes to pull Yuchi Gong to refine alchemy and take medicine together, and the two seem to have returned to the Wude period.

The mica powder I just ate is the result of Yuchi Gong's years of practicing Taoism and alchemy. It is similar to Wushi Powder. After eating it, it can relieve worries and make people feel elated, but it will be very hot and even hallucinations.

For the emperor today, this mica powder is quite good. Anyway, it can relieve temporary sorrow and temporarily forget the pain in your body.

After a while, the emperor's eyes gradually returned to clearness.

The emperor's face was flushed and he was sweating proficiently. Xu Luoren skillfully took a sweat towel to wipe the emperor, and Li Shimin smiled and gave Xuanzang a seat.

"I heard that the monk had great perseverance. He once traveled to the east of the sea to the east of Japan to preach the Dharma, and then went to Baekje, Silla, and Goguryeo to preach the Dharma. Later, he had Chengqian support, traveled to the west to obtain scriptures, traveled all over the Western Regions, and visited more than 300 countries and city-states. Can it be?"

Xuanzang nodded for sure.

"I heard that Tianzhu is the place where the Buddha was born, and I also heard that there were many Hu monks in the Western Regions who knew the secret techniques of elixirs and immortality. The monks traveled to the Western Regions and had a wide range of knowledge. Can they know such Hu monks?"

Xuanzang shook his head.

Li Shimin's face changed, "I heard that you brought some Hu monks back from Tianzhu. One of them is now living in Chang'an City. He is said to be two hundred years old and has the art of immortality. How dare you deceive the emperor?"

Xuanzang said, "What the saint said should be Nara Sapomi. This person is a Brahmin monk from Magadha, India. I met him halfway and walked with him. I didn't know his true background. I couldn't confirm whether he was really two hundred years old, and I didn't believe that he really had the art of immortality, so I didn't dare to say anything."

Li Shimin's face was slightly better.
