Chapter 1674 : But drive back to the north

Chapters about Xu Da were posted two days ago. In the story, whether Xu Da said to Xiao Yun and Chang Yuchun that deliberately let Emperor Hui of Yuan was true, and whether Chang Yuchun in the story had secret protection for Zhu Yuanzhang.

Many people are asking about this question. Some book friends even said that Xu Da later suffered from cervix and was afraid of eating river gooses. Zhu Yuanzhang gave steamed gooses to Xu (Chinese folk legend says geese are "fat food"). The Ming Dynasty stipulated that the banquet must be eaten immediately and eaten in full. Xu Da knew what Zhu Yuanzhang meant, and finished the goose meat with tears. Soon he died of poison. It was not because Zhu Yuanzhang was afraid of Xu Da's contribution to the master, but because Chang Yuchun reported that Xu Da let Emperor Hui go, and he was afraid of Zhu Yuanzhang, so he was killed!

I can only smile bitterly about this explanation. The conclusion that Xu Da cannot end well is from the notes "Jian Sheng Ye Wen" written by the Ming Dynasty scholar Xu Zhenqing. Later, it was misused by Zhao Yi's famous work "Twenty-Two Histories Notes" in the Qing Dynasty, and it was widely circulated, causing misunderstandings among some book friends.

First of all, I want to say that "Jian Shengye Wen" mostly records the story of the early Ming Dynasty. "History of Ming Dynasty" records Xu Da died of ulcers, but there was no saying that Zhu Yuanzhang sent someone to give food. "Jian Shengye Wen" only has the record of "suddenly giving food". "Jian Shengye Wen" also records: "After the empress dowager collapsed, the day of the burial, the strong wind and rain shook thunder and lightning, and Taizu was very unhappy." "Summary of the General Catalogue of Siku Quanshu" says that "Jian Shengye Wen" "is often unreasonable" and is not reliable. Lang Ying also used the "Zhu Shide Monument" written by Zhu Yuanzhang to verify the errors of "Jian Shengye Wen". Therefore, it is not credible.

Just like

Xu Zhenqing said in his "Jian Shengye Wen": Xu Da was chasing Emperor Yuan, and was about to catch up, but suddenly he sent an order to the army. Chang Yuchun didn't understand why this was so furious and drove back to Beijing to report to Zhu Yuanzhang, saying, "Xu Da is going to rebel, he has already chased Emperor Shun, and he has released him. His conspiracy can no longer be reversed." Xu Da guessed that Chang Yuchun would definitely change when he returned to Beijing, so he left his troops to guard Peiping and brought his guard back.

Beijing was stationed in Jiangpu, and he went to see Zhu Yuanzhang with his sword in his hand. Zhu Yuanzhang was angry at that time. Before going to bed, he told the guards on duty, saying, "Don't let him in when Xu Da comes." As soon as he finished speaking, Xu Da arrived. He couldn't see Zhu Yuanzhang, so he became suspicious. He drew his sword and killed the guards on duty, and snatched the door. When Zhu Yuanzhang saw that the matter was getting serious, he quietly sent someone to find Xu Da, saying that you would not punish you and come to see me. Xu Da refused to come.

So Zhu Yuanzhang left the palace and went to Xu Da's boat to see him. Xu Da said to Zhu Yuanzhang: "If I had two hearts, could I drag it to this day? It's too late to say that now, but I commanded the powerful troops in the river and river. But I don't do this. Why didn't I capture Emperor Yuan? This is also the result of my careful consideration. Although Emperor Shun of Yuan is very humble now, he once ruled China as an emperor. How can I deal with him? I am the one who dares to be outside of you, Zhu Yuanzhang?" Zhu Yuanzhang was very enlightened after hearing this, so the two of them swear to make peace as usual."

There was obvious problem with this sentence. First of all, I have to admit that Xu Da must have said the above words. According to the "History of Ming Dynasty", Xu Da did say, "I did not capture Emperor Yuan, but I am familiar with the plan. Although he was a small person, he also used to defend China in the south. I took it back and governed it?" This sentence is translated as "I have planned to not capture the Emperor of Yuan Dynasty alive. Although the Emperor of Yuan Dynasty was already very small, he had ruled China for the south. After all, I ruled China for the south. How should I deal with it?" There is a similar record for this sentence by Lu Shen, a Ming man. However, Lu Shen's "Yutang Man Bi" mistakenly believed that Xu Da let Emperor Shun of Yuan Dynasty take place in the Battle of Kaiping, but Xu Da did not participate in the Battle of Kaiping. The Battle of Kaiping was a battle led by Chang Yuchun, which shows that there was a mistake here.

In "Notes on Twenty-Two Histories", Zhao Yi, a Qing Dynasty man, made a detailed review of the unofficial history of Xu Da's release of Emperor Shun of Yuan. In the first year of Hongwu, Xu Da, Chang Yuchun, soldiers of Chang Yuchun arrived in Tongzhou and conquered Yuandu in August Gengwu. Emperor Shun had already opened Jiandemen to the north in Bingyin in July, so he did not deliberately let Emperor Shun of Yuan. The following spring, Xu Da was fighting against Yuan troops in Gongchang, Lintao, Qingyang and other places in Shaanxi. Chang Yuchun said that there was a Yuan prime minister in Tongzhou who wanted to go and see what was going on. That is, he returned to Beiping with Li Wenzhong. After defeating the Yuan army, he chased Kaiping. At this time, Emperor Shun had already gone north to the desert, and Chang Yuchun died in Liuhe on his way back. Therefore, Xu Da was not present in the battle of Kaiping. Chang Yuchun

He did not return to Nanjing to expose Xu Da's rebellion to Zhu Yuanzhang. Moreover, Xu Da was cautious, respectful and polite. When he fought with Zhang Shicheng in Pingjiang, he sent someone back to the capital to ask Zhu Yuanzhang for advice when he had something to do. Zhu Yuanzhang praised his loyalty and encouraged him with "the general is outside, and the king will not control him." General Hu De followed him on an expedition to Kuo Temur. He was defeated. Xu Da ordered: "If the battle fails, he should be beheaded." But because he was the son of the hero Hu Dahai, he brought a ring to the capital. Zhu Yuanzhang said: "General Xu Da followed Wei Qing and did not kill Su Jian, so he did not need to tolerate him today." From this, it can be seen that Xu Da dared not make a decision without authorization when encountering problems. What's more, how could he dare to deliberately let Emperor Shun of Yuan in destruction of such a country?

Regarding this, Xu Zhenqing pointed out in "Jiansheng Yewen": "(Zhu Yuanzhang) was not allowed to offer prisoner ceremony and the Yuan royal family was all granted officials. This is my loyal and honest way of Taizu, and he would promote the destruction of the benevolence of the past, and he would overcome the previous dynasties." Zhao Yi's research in "Notes on Twenty-Two Histories" also pointed out: "The Ming Dynasty said: When the emperor was lucky to Bianliang, Dami invited the emperor, saying, "If Emperor Yuan went north, would he pursue it?" The emperor said, "The Yuan fortune has declined! After the journey was destroyed, after going out of the frontier, be careful to be guarded." In addition, Zhu Yuanzhang sent the "Libala, the legitimate grandson of the Yuan lord," who was captured in the Battle of Yingchang to Mongolia in the seventh year of Hongwu, and Zhu Yuanzhang even threatened to repatriate the empress of the Yuan Mingzong who was captured in the Battle of Yingchang, which shows that Zhu Yuanzhang did not seem to strongly oppose the release of Emperor Shun of Yuan.

What's more, the Ming Dynasty man Yan Congjian recorded in "Shuyu Zhou Jilu" that when Zhu Yuanzhang was worshiping emperors of all dynasties, he pointed at the portrait of Yuan Shizu and said: "Idiot son, Idiot son! Who is you? You are lucky to have entered China. If you don't get rid of it now, you are also the king of a generation. Today, I ordered people to return to the world. If you don't kill your descendants, you will not kill them, but you will drive them back to the north. Then I will be kind to treat the victorious country! Why do you hate them? Don't cry anymore!" Among them, "I will not kill you, but you will drive them back to the north." This sentence just exposed Zhu Yuanzhang's true attitude towards Emperor Shun of Yuan. It can be seen that Xu Da said this is true, but it is definitely nothing to do with General Chang. At the same time, Xiao Jing doesn't know whether it is because of this? I will leave it to you to imagine!
