Chapter 9 Daikanyama's Conversation

After dinner, Shinoda said that he still had something to do in the department, so Qiu Yang returned to the laboratory alone and happened to meet Professor Aya Kawada who came to care about his situation.

During the interview, I met her. She was an old lady who spoke very gently but was very capable. The two exchanged greetings and exchanged a few words. Professor Kuwada also arranged the work he would do in the next year - the plan for the Hokkaido Tourism Town. It was a large project that the government allocated 3 billion yen to build. Kuwada's team took over some of the work, and Qiu Yang would also participate in it.

After receiving a thick stack of task books, Qiu Yang spent the afternoon sitting in the studio to digest the information, but still felt that there were many difficult parts - regional design. The most important thing for the designer was to continuously deepen his understanding of the target region. Qiu Yang, who was not familiar with the place, felt pressured and decided to go to the bookstore to buy some books and recharge himself.

In the end, Iris Bookstore located in Daiguanshan. When Qiu Yang came to Daiguanshan last time in his sophomore year, he was to visit the Daiguanshan collection house designed by Mr. Zhen Wenyan. He was quite disappointed and would never go there.

The Daiguanshan-Aoyama area can be said to be a wealthy area in Tokyo, which is comparable to the Minato Region. The luxury store on the street is lined up, and the exterior decoration is as inconspicuous as ordinary buyers. Looking closely, it is well-designed - compared to the ostentatiousness of Minato Region, it has a kind of low-key luxury hidden in the city.

This also made Qiu Yang feel a little relaxed. Even if his family is a middle-aged middle-class family, he is still far from the life of a luxury student in the traditional impression of the public. He has not adapted to overly luxurious occasions since he was a child, and he cannot be neither humble nor arrogant. For luxury goods, he will only occasionally receive one or two as birthday gifts, and after wearing them a few times, he will be left alone - wearing that kind of thing also makes Qiu Yang feel uncomfortable as a child steals adult clothes.

On the way, I met a male model who seemed to be filming and posed in a cool pose on the stairs across the street.

Qiu Yang just glanced at him twice more. The middle-aged man standing on the street, who seemed to be the filming director, looked at him jokingly, saying:

"look! japanese    movie    star!" It seemed to be explaining something difficult to understand to the foreigner who had no common sense, and he felt proud of the cow playing the piano.

Qiu Yang shook his head. These were also the wonderful things he thought to be from Neon several times: it seemed to be due to a subtle difference in temperament or appearance? He was always able to identify the identity of "not my race" at a glance - this made him feel out of place and lonely, and he was also somewhat lucky to preserve his identity.

I selected a few books I needed in the Iris Bookstore, "Hokkaido Stroll", "Discovering Hokkaido", "Hokkaido Community Construction Guide"... On the way to checkout, Qiu Yang's eyes were suddenly attracted by the recommended best-selling book exhibition board.

Haruki Murakami’s “The Mimi Line of California Beach”, Kyoichi Katayama’s “Now, Here”, Shunji Iwai’s “I Love Cat and Autumn”…

It’s been 2021, and the best-selling writers are still familiar and popular names.

In the past year, Qiu Yang was busy preparing for the exam and had not read pure literature works for a long time. He had never heard of these bibliography.

In fact, Qiu Yang has been a fanatical "Murakami" since he was very young. "The Forest of Norway" is an enlightenment book for the love between men and women in the fifth grade of elementary school; "Kafka by the Sea" is the first novel he chewed; after that, "1q84", "The Bird's Traffic", "The Fringe of the World and the Cold Wonderland", from novels to collections of short stories, to collections of prose and documentary literature, they are all unabridged.

But in the domestic literary market, Murakami is indeed over-reputed - how did a writer who even used the most thoughtful metaphor to modify the love between men and women be embellished as a strong competitor to the Nobel Prize? But there are too many people with only a slight understanding claiming to be "Murakami fanatic" and sighing for Murakami every year, which can be said to be very embarrassing.

This even made Qiu Yang feel embarrassed to speak out about his love for Haruki Murakami.

Looking through the "Sanwei Line on the California Coast", the narrative as usual was still as usual, interspersed with a wonderful metaphor: "The sound of the Sanwei Line seems to be a knife that smooths the mayonnaise on the toast, which calms me down in an instant."

I smiled knowingly, but felt a little bored for no reason.

"The more I read Haruki Murakami's book, the more I feel that it is deeper than it looks and shallowly."

Qiu Yang murmured unconsciously while briefly reading the plot behind.

"What did you just say?"

A woman's voice suddenly came from behind him, which scared him, and the books in his hand almost fell to the ground.

——I just said something bad about Murakami’s bookshelf that is not bad. Isn’t it going to be expelled by the staff? Is Neon Bookstore so strict? Or is it a fan of Murakami who wants to defend his idol?
