Chapter 201 Council of the Society
The Mathematics Society of Huaxia Association for Science and Technology is a small conference room. There are six or seven people sitting on it. They are the vice president, secretary-general and deputy secretary-general of the society. There are more than twenty executive directors sitting below.
An old man in the middle had his hair combed greasyly, with a little bit of white hair in the darkness, which should have been dyed. The glasses with gold-edged faces were full of seriousness, and he looked like he was hosting an important meeting in the West Flower Hall.
"Okay, OK," he patted the microphone, and the sound of the speaker rang out. The discussion that had just sounded everywhere in the venue disappeared like the thin snow in the sun.
"We are going to have a meeting, so everyone stops talking. If you have any comments, please raise them at the meeting later." The host continued.
"Don't you come from Mr. Liu, Mr. Yu, Mr. Qian, Mr. Zhang, Mr. Zhou and Mr. Lin?" Someone asked below. These six are consultants of the Mathematics Society and masters in the domestic mathematics community.
"We are just discussing some daily affairs, and there is no need to invite the six old people to these small things. They are old and their health is important, so we will stop tormenting them." The host squeezed out a little smile and laughed a few times after the talk. But when he saw no one echoed, he coughed a few times and then took them back.
"Why didn't Secretary-General Han, Director Zhang, Lao Guo, Lao Chen, Lao Xu, Lao An and others come?" Someone asked again.
"Chairman Zhang and Vice Chairman Guo have to attend the meeting of the school department and the committee, and there is no time. So I entrusted Vice Chairman Xia and me to preside over the meeting. Several other executive directors were in charge of official duties, so they asked for leave."
Finally no one said anything below. Secretary-General Han glanced at the venue and said seriously: "Now, please invite Vice Chairman Xia to make an important speech."
After saying that, he took the lead in applauding. Although it was very enthusiastic, he seemed to be powerless. Fortunately, there were sparse applause below. After a pause, the applause finally rang out loud.
"Dear directors and comrades, good morning. I was commissioned by the Association for Science and Technology to convey the spirit of the Third Congress of the Association for Science and Technology. All walks of life and industry across the country, earnestly study the spirit of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 14th Central Committee, earnestly implement the "ZG Central Committee's Suggestion on Formulating the 'Nine Five' Plan for National Economic and Social Development and the Long-term Goals for 2010", and work hard... Welcoming the 15th National Congress of the D with a fuller spirit and better results..."
"We have learned to achieve great achievements in our work in the past year. According to incomplete statistics, we have learned to be a member of the society? 89 academic articles have been published in international related magazines? Set a record high..."
On the far left side of the corner of the conference room, there were two people sitting very upright? They looked at the front with a smile? They looked at the lecture seriously, but their mouths opened and closed? They were whispering and talking privately.
"After publishing so many academic articles, adding them together is not worth an article? What's the use?"
"Why is it useless? You didn't hear it? Now it has become someone else's performance."
The two chuckled a few times and stopped making any more noises.
Vice Chairman Xia talked for an hour, and the corners of his mouth foamed white, and finally finished speaking. Secretary-General Han continued directly.
"Vice Chairman Xia's speech is very important? A far-sighted viewer? A deafening, enlightened, thought-provoking..."
The two below muttered in a low voice again, "Is this old Han still this old problem? Use idioms regardless of occasions. They are obviously a mathematics professor, but they like to write poems and inscriptions everywhere? They are not doing their jobs."
"What does it mean to not do your job properly? This is a dual study of arts and science, and mathematics and Chinese studies are moving forward in parallel!"
"hehe..."
After another hour of talk? Secretary-General Han finally began to announce, what do you think? You can propose it to discuss it at the meeting.
"The office conditions I learned are too poor? Everyone is crowded together? What else do you have to do your work? The board of directors must take it seriously and must report to the above to improve our office conditions..."
"There are too few academic seminars that have been learned, and they are always held near the capital. What's the point? The annual meeting of the Physics Society next door was held in Yuhang. Four more academic seminars were held in Jincheng, Chang'an, Shengyang and Jiangcheng, and the southeast and northwest. The Chemistry Society is even more powerful. It just held an annual meeting on Hainan Island and went to Nanpeng and Hujiang to hold two academic seminars."
"That's right, we have the annual meeting held in Beidaihe, where we hold it every year. What's the point? Five academic seminars were held, either Beijing University or Huaqing. We went back and forth, and I could go directly after class. What's the point?"
A lot of trivial matters were discussed, and someone suddenly asked: "Qiu Haowen returned to China. He won the Vaguo Anpe Award last year. He won the Nelle Award, Faisal King Award and the IBM Applied Mathematics Award this year, and this year he won the Neil Award from the London Mathematics Society, the King Faisal Award and the IBM Applied Mathematics Award. It can be said that he has returned with honors. Kyoto Mathematics Institute invited him to give a speech and report. Does the Society also invite him to give a special report?"
The venue suddenly became quiet, like after a thunderbolt, all the animals in the forest were frightened, and their voices were blocked in their throats. They were either frightened or looked around, hiding their own thoughts and speculating on other people's thoughts.
"The Kyoto Institute of Mathematics is them, and learning is learning. We are an important part of the Science and Technology Association. Our task is to unite the vast number of mathematicians and promote the development of mathematics in our country. We have great responsibilities and lofty goals. We cannot give up our heavy responsibilities just for one person?"
As soon as Secretary-General Han finished speaking, a deputy secretary-general immediately answered, "Yes, we learned to be an institution, representing the dignity and face of the country. How can we put down our posture for a certain person? And we are a young man. Although he has achieved a little bit of results, we cannot praise him too much, as this will make him feel proud and complacent. We should spur him well and urge him to achieve better results."
"He is already proud and complacent! He is so proud that he has achieved a little bit of grade. Doesn't he recognize such a big door? He returns to China every time, he doesn't see him come to report on his learning situation! Learning so many seniors, and a young junior is not considered a humiliating him. It's the country, and he has learned to cultivate him. Without the care of the organization and the guidance of his predecessors, can he get these results? Now, if he has achieved a little bit of grade, his tail is up to the sky."
"Okay," Vice Chairman Xia interrupted the man's complaint, "Now is the time to discuss work. Don't take such irrelevant things to the meeting."
In that corner, the two of them continued to whisper.
"These guys are farting when Director Zhang and Lao Guo and others are not here."
"Haha, these guys are just envious and jealous. Report their learning situation? They are so thick-skinned, and they are not afraid of being embarrassed!"
"What do they do? Their mind is all about this. If they don't let them mess with each other, they will be useless and will be suffocated to death. By the way, how has your niece Xiaoye studied at Pulinst University? He became a student of Professor Van Liszt, which is amazing."
"I studied well and made great progress. I inherited the talent of my mentor and went to a good environment like Pulinst University. In China, Peking University has strong math strength, so we can only catch up with Huaqing. But at the world level, Pulinst University is still the best."
"Yes. Kyoto University was originally awesome, but now I have come out with Qiu Haowen, such a monster, and his friends. You Huaqing and us have a big start, and it's even harder to chase you."
