Chapter eight hundred and fortieth one emperor through the ages

Proudly, since the founding of the Ming Dynasty, the treatment of scholars has ended in the hands of Emperor Chongzhen. It is not that scholars will not give preferential treatment, but that they will no longer give you excessive preferential treatment.

The preferential treatment of scholars begins with Chongzhen.

Emperor Chongzhen abolished preferential treatment for scholars in Xiongxian, which immediately caused their backlash.

No matter whether you are an emperor or not, even if you are an emperor, it is not enough. If you smash their jobs, the scholars who have put their clothes on and have their hands on the food will not be willing to give up.

So, the scholars in Xiongxian began to gather. They decided to make trouble outside the yamen and seek justice for their unfair treatment. This was actually a risky one for them.

This is the emperor, and Emperor Chongzhen's tyranny has always been heard of. One can execute Yuan Chonghuan, a priest of the border, and the other can kill dozens of court officials. If he offended the emperor, the consequences will be unpredictable.

But no matter how serious the consequences are, you cannot cut off your own financial path. Now the emperor has issued an order to cancel all preferential policies for scholars. Isn’t this going to force us scholars who are full of words to death?

Since this is the case, since life cannot continue, then make a fuss and go to the yamen to make trouble. Let the people in the world see that we are rational about this matter.

Although the saying "Everyone is often a dog-slaughtering person, but most of a scholar is a bit extreme, it is not unreasonable.

Cao Xueqi, a writer in the late Ming Dynasty, once wrote a poem titled "After the Butcher Xu Wujia, I saw this couplet", the original text is: "If the flies are greedy and despair, how can apes bow again? For righteousness, many dogs butchers, and most of them are scholars who are unfaithful."

Cao Xueqi was born in the 23rd year of Wanli and was also one of the ancestors of Fujian Opera recognized in historical materials.

Who is Cao Xueqi? He himself is a scholar. A loyal minister of the Southern Ming Dynasty, and even the Qing Dynasty posthumously named him a righteous man of "Loyalty".

It is such a scholar who wrote this sentence that has been remembered forever.

In the late Wanli period, an old official named Li Le, who was a student in Zhejiang. He wrote in his autobiography that the local scholars in Zhejiang did not look like scholars at all. Everyone was wearing heavy makeup without shame. Some even joked with women in the street, and even held women's underwear, such as bellybands, and shook them around in their hands.

Therefore, Li Le also wrote a poem to express his inner dissatisfaction. The original text of the poem is: "I came to the city yesterday and returned with tears in my heart. All those who wear women's clothes are scholars."

This is by no means an exaggeration. What Emperor Chongzhen saw and heard along the way during these days in Xiongxian were all seen with his own eyes.

These scholars walk on the streets naturally have a sense of superiority. They are in groups of three or five, with their children and slaves around them. When ordinary people see them, they often have to salute or hide.

Because in the eyes of the people, these scholars are superior. In the eyes of these scholars, ordinary people are all untouchables and ants.

The most distinctive example of Fan Jin's award is that when Fan Jin was a scholar, Hu Butcher Hu told him that when he met those who plowed the fields and those who were scattered, they were just ordinary people. If you bow to him and sit on an equal footing, this would be a violation of the school rules and even my face would be lost. You are a loyal and useless person, so I have to teach you these words so as not to make people laugh.

In other words, scholars have a natural sense of superiority. This has lasted for thousands of years. However, in the Ming Dynasty, scholars have been increasingly treated with preferential treatment.

Zhu Yuanzhang's starting point for preferential treatment of scholars was good, and he recruited talents from all over the world and used by the court. Just like when he first established the Jinyiwei, Emperor Chengzu established the Dongchang, etc., they were all for the purpose of fighting corruption and corruption.

But in the end, everything changed. The Ming Dynasty lacked a courageous king like Taizu Chengzu, so the later it went, many things became more and more out of control.

The Jinyiwei later created a large number of unjust cases, and the East and West Factory was even more guilty. Even Wei Zhongxian during the Tianqi period had already covered the sky. These were all the disasters of the fall of the Ming Dynasty.

The fall of Wei Zhongxian led to the rise of the Donglin Party. These Donglin Party members were also based on saving the country and the people at the beginning, but when they were unable to control the situation, everything changed.

From the beginning of the idea of saving the country, it became a reason for making money and power for themselves. They cultivated their party members and treated scholars with preferential treatment and canceled commercial taxes, etc. Anyway, everything was for the scholars of the world.

These scholars in the world have received favors, so they naturally support the Donglin Party members. The Donglin Party members not only won their status, but also won their reputation for money. However, all of this is based on the heads of thousands of hard-working people.

Scholars in the late Ming Dynasty also loved to pursue fashion very much. For example, they were all proud of their "sexy and precious" wear. At that time, the "Huluo shirt" produced in Jiangnan and other places was the "huluo shirt" produced in Jiangnan and other places. Because this material was produced in a special place and a sparse output, it could even be sold for more than a dozen taels of silver at that time.

But despite this, there was still a shortage of supply, and if the scholar at that time had not had clothes made of such materials, he would probably be ridiculed by his peers when he walked on the street.

To put it bluntly, scholars advocate the style of sissy. This made Zhu Cilang stand upright. As a straight man, Zhu Cilang hates the most sissy, and he always keeps away from him.

A man should stand upright and be determined by the subway. Only in this way can he be considered a real man. Those sissy tricks that are painted and powdered are really disgusting.

In addition to pursuing the "slutty style", scholars were even fascinated by a special way of entertainment, namely gambling. Logically speaking, the gambling industry was already a sunset industry. Because of the war, the rich were all rich people, and naturally few rich people were scholars.

Seeing that the wealthy businessmen refused to take them to play, some scholars gathered together on their own, and divided them into scholars and Jinshi, and started their final madness on their own. At that time, almost every senior official had a gambling house at home, and there were elegant gambling houses specially opened for scholars.

This kind of gambling between scholars actually appeared earlier in the late Jiajing year, but it was during the Chongzhen year that really emerged.

Emperor Chongzhen, who was in the palace, could not see or know these things. Even Zhu Cixuan himself did not know them. It was only after he led troops abroad for years that he truly understood the real life of the people of the Ming Dynasty.

Therefore, Emperor Chongzhen's private visits were very necessary. Only by going deep into the people can we personally experience the sufferings of the people and truly find the root of the Ming Dynasty's corruption.

No one likes to be a foolish monarch. Everyone wants to achieve great things and become the emperor of the ages.
